Conscious Design for Cultural Impact
Branding and interactive experiences for mission-committed organizations and a more just and creative world.
Branding
Flyleaf is an expert in creating brands from the ground up or working to build upon existing brand attributes. Our work for MCC Theater includes creating a flexible suite of brand identity tools, comprehensive exterior and interior signage program and outdoor transit advertising campaign for their new home in Hell’s Kitchen. We’ve also designed and established the branding for clients like The Racial Imaginary Institute, International Festival of Arts & Ideas, St. Ann’s Warehouse, Alabama Chanin/Project Threadways, and Mabou Mines.
Web Design
Flyleaf Creative’s web design work has taken on many design and technology challenges, including e-commerce ticketing integrations and custom WCAG accessibility standards for visually-impaired users. Recently, we’ve created a visually engaging site for Bard Prison Initiative to support the various areas of their work and to highlight the film College Behind Bars which features their students and alumni. We also designed an inviting digital archive of more than 1,500 hours of audio and video recordings for PEN America, and for Litmus Press, we redesigned a website bringing together an entire family of publications under one roof for the first time. Our work with other cultural institutions includes a Spektrix ticketing integration for St. Ann’s Warehouse, designing a uniquely interactive website to showcase topical multimedia works for The Racial Imaginary Institute, and creating web-based content amidst the global pandemic for the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center, which included designing a virtual exhibition, bringing curriculums to educators entirely online, and launching a virtual auction fundraiser.
Environmental Signage
Flyleaf Creative has taken on projects ranging from a supergraphic for Theatre Row to activate its newly renovated interior and encompass wayfinding in a playful way, to environmental signage for stages and venues across New Haven for the International Festival of Arts & Ideas, and bulkhead signage for St. Ann’s Warehouse that can be seen throughout DUMBO amidst a large-scale signage program for their new home. Other prominent signage work includes a comprehensive program for MCC Theater. Upcoming projects include a COVID-19 health & safety signage program for an arts organization to safely reopen.
Digital Marketing
In addition to designing eye-catching creative, Flyleaf has worked to successfully translate a direct mail membership acquisitions campaign to the digital realm for Longwood Gardens. Additionally, we’ve built a year-round digital media plan for Bard Prison Initiative encompassing website, social media, and email strategy to increase their brand awareness, gain new followers and donors, and spread word about the documentary film of which their students are the subject, College Behind Bars.
